Drought and the Strategy

In view of their election debacle, there may have been those among the BJP that wondered if calling an early election was indeed the best option, given that Mr. Vajpayee reportedly wanted to see out a full term. The danger in his choice would've been the uncertainty in the monsoon. Given that so far the rains seem to have failed us somewhat, the BJP can now drop that thought - it may have been an even greater rout (if not as bad) later in the year.
