95 Run De Basanti*
Members of the ARR-SRT Fan Combine (there is usually a high degree of intersection between these two sets) breathe sighs of relief with two commercially successful scores recently. Though most of the followers had professed (atleast publicly) a continuation of faith and pointed to continued critical plaudits for immediately preceding records, these recent efforts would have provided a balm of relief and held at bay the wolf of doubt.
(*not to be confused as an exhortation to Hema Malini)

I am wondering why one subset of that combine (the ARR part) would even want to complain! The average junta (which are not part of the combine, that is) picks up tapes/CDs once the movie releases and if the movie does not do well, the visibility is low. And we know that ARR's movies have not exactly been doing well lately, for which he is NOT to blame.
Anti - it seemed to me that lack of commercial success over a period of time (whatever reasons: the film doing badly, the umpire giving you out in strange circs) eventually causes fans to become defensive - the average junta starts to carp instead of waiting for the "hit". Successes like these give the fans much-needed breather and a sense of "i-told-you-so" :-)
