India play their first ever Twenty20 International cricket match today. In their history, India have never ever won the first matches they played in the two previous forms of international cricket.India lost their first Test match versus England in 1932 by 158 runs. Their first one day international ended in the same result, losing again to England, but this time by 4 wickets.
Incidentally, India will become the last Test playing nation to go "Twenty20" - a mixture of apathy and snootiness has played its part in not being up wth the times. So given all this history and the current state of affairs and South Africa's 100% record in this tiniest of forms, it'll be a surprise if India beat form and fortune.
(update: which they did.)

Third time lucky I guess? We actually won, bit of huffing and puffing at the end there, but a win is a win I say! :-)
Indeed Mangesh - a pleasant surprise!
India beat a 2nd string SA side...guess not form and fortune...but a pleasant surprise none the less!
That's why they say, "the only certainty in cricket is the uncertainty!".
So, never predict again, unless you want to be third-time lucky in your predictions.
I am not a great a fan of 20-20. Doesn't excite me at all.
It wasnt exactly second string, They picked 20-20 specialists and ALbie Morkel showed he is quite capable. Bsides, a stoic Kallis and a predictable Pollock arent exactly cut-out for 20-20.
