Memorable
One other person apart from Christopher Nolan was key to the story - the editor Dody Dorn. That had to be quite a job. Some memories are not meant to be forgotten. All said and done, wow!...and I took home the mention of Betrayal from it. But it is great to see that someone comes along to try and make a film like this and stir things up, do it with limited sets, letting us sink into the sticky web of detail and teach us about the possibilities in screenplay writing.
The ending was appropriate for the film - open-ended and left to interpretation. Layered and detailed, I do have to watch this a couple of times more to see if I reacted only to the structure and to see if there's anything I've missed out. Ebert's review was surprisingly not so cock-a-hoop about it like some others, and I took home the mention of Betrayal from it.
The opening moments are quite brilliant - rarely do the initial parts set the tone for the
rest of a film like in "Memento". The storytelling does take some getting used to, and I must even
confess that there were points when I wondered if it was all about structure and not about content.
The ending would hold the key of course - I was actually happy in retrospect that there was
no "magic" ending that would take our breaths away.
I did not realise its "non-linearity" was to such a degree that it really was temporally "linear" in a manner of speaking.
I was extremely careful not to wander anywhere near anything more than a cast listing about the
film and its much touted "non-linearity". I did not realise its "non-linearity" was to such a

I watched Memento yesterday finally and wasn't disappointed. So much of hype can accumulate when you hear and read about such films that the inevitable viewing almost always ranges from a letdown to a total washout.
